Therapy in Westchester, NY

Offering in-person and virtual therapy for individuals, families, and couples.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy can help one deal with many challenges in life such as anger, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and everyday life stressors.

A core goal of individual therapy is to develop a stronger, more comprehensive, and realistic understanding of yourself. This goal is achieved by increasing awareness of self and others in sessions through explorative talk therapy and CBT/DBT skills development to combat maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. Once this core goal is achieved, you can feel increased control over your life, including your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships.

I provide individual therapy for adolescents aged 15 and older, young adults, and adults. Sessions are offered via telehealth or in person, whatever is most convenient for the patient.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a therapeutic approach used predominantly when I am working with adolescents who could benefit from involving family members in the treatment process.

Concurrently, I like to give adolescent clients as much choice and opportunity as possible when involving their parents. Family therapy aims to improve communication between family members, build CBT/DBT skills, and provide a safe space for parent and child to jointly understand one another and connect meaningfully to address any barriers.

At times, parent coaching sessions are encouraged with the therapist to build skills for parents to help them connect and support their child, empowering them as caregivers and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Outside resources, such as books and videos, are provided to facilitate the healing and therapeutic goals.

Couples Therapy

There is a cause behind everyone’s behavior. It is difficult enough to learn what drives our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors much less what drives our partners. However, if we can understand our partners more, we can increase our tolerance of them more.

According to research, 70% of couples say therapy positively impacts their relationship. In this busy world, partners may ignore major issues causing problems to escalate. Couples counseling can provide a safe space and guidance for partners to have productive discussions with a neutral party.

Additionally, it can be a place where emotional wounds, past traumas or trust issues that may negatively impact the relationship, can be safely explored and understood. As with individual and family therapy, CBT and DBT skills are learned and resources are provided to deal effectively with stressors affecting the relationship, strengthen communication, negotiate shared goals, and create more relationship balance.
